A psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP) is a registered nurse educated, trained, licensed, and nationally board-certified to provide advanced care for patients with mental illness and substance use disorders.
ICare Psychiatry is a primary care psychiatric clinic that offers state-of-the-art and evidence-based assessment of mental health, screening for mental and behavioral illness, diagnosis of mental illness diagnosis, management of mental illness through medication, therapy, or counseling, coordination with primary care providers for holistic patient care, and referrals to specialized mental health providers when needed. These services are available in person, via telephone, or through video call visits. However, the initial visit is always done in person at the clinic.
I can submit an appointment request on the website or call the clinic at 253-414-1983 to schedule an appointment. A friendly staff will contact me to confirm my appointment.
I can cancel or reschedule my appointment by submitting a cancellation or reschedule request on the website or calling the clinic at 253-414-1983 at least 24 hours before the scheduled appointment.
Each provider of ICare Psychiatry accepts different insurances, including Medicaid/Medicare, BCBS, Cigna, and First Choice Health plan. I must check with my insurance plan to ensure that my ICare Psychiatry provider is in-network and my financial responsibility for the visit.
I must check if I have a reliable internet connection and if my computer (with a camera, microphone, and speakers) or mobile phone is working and fully charged. I must look for a quiet and private place, so I will not be interrupted or distracted. I must also look for a well-lit location so my provider can see me clearly. I must also download the app or software recommended by my provider and set up my account or login information. I must also log in to the platform a few minutes before my scheduled appointment.
My ICare Psychiatry provider will perform a comprehensive psychiatric assessment, including gathering information about my symptoms, psychiatric and medical history, family history, and other relevant life experiences.
The duration of the visit varies depending on the nature of the visit. The initial visit may take about 45 to 60 minutes, while follow-up visits may last 15 to 30 minutes.
I should seek professional help if I have difficulty concentrating, long-term sadness or irritability, changes in energy, changes in mood, excessive anxiety or fear, sleeping problems, hearing or seeing things that other people cannot hear or see, difficulty coping with daily stressors or activities, thoughts about wanting to hurt myself or others, and difficulty controlling drug or alcohol use.
Some mental illnesses can be cured with adequate treatment, while others require lifelong management for adequate control of symptoms.
I can receive medication, psychotherapy, or both from ICare Psychiatry providers.
ICare Psychiatry adheres to ethical and legal requirements for keeping patient information and visits private and confidential. No information will be shared without my consent or unless required by law.
I will call ICare Psychiatry Clinic at 253-414-1983, and a friendly staff will guide me on the appropriate steps.
I will call the emergency services or call 911, or visit the nearest emergency room for help.
